jeb54321 11
I won't claim I did an exhaustive seach, but I did read a lot of notes that turned up when I searched for the above error message. The one thing I noticed was that everyone that got the error seemed to have a different root cause and solution, and mine didn't seem to be consistent with any of them. So perhaps someone could tell me what this means. I'm running 4.4.2.4912 (156554) on 32-bit Windows XP. I think this might be the relevant line, but I haven't a clue how it could have gotten in to this state, nor how to fix it:08:58:28 [6360] 0% Synchronizing 1 note08:58:28 [6360] 0% Updating local note "UCD.pdf"...table expunged_items has 4 columns but 3 values were suppliedI don't share notes with anyone. I used Evernote from another computer I have, and found the note that included the PDF attachment and deleted it. I looked for it on the machine that is failing, but it doesn't exist there. I believe I was using Evernote to make the PDF available on several machines. I have a feeling I created it on another machine, but on this one it fails. The machine it works on (64-bit Windows 7) is version 5.1.2.2387. Any suggestions appreciated.08:58:27 [6360] 0% Connecting to www.evernote.com08:58:27 [6360] 0% * loaded updateCount: 360508:58:27 [6360] 0% Synchronizing ads08:58:27 [6360] 0% Reporting 20 ads, notyetagm 5
This error is driving me nuts! It only happens for me under Windows 8.1. At work I have Windows 7 SP 1 and Sync works fine. Link to comment
Gaburk 0
I come across the same problem. I think I deleted the note that is the culprit (also from trash) wich means I can now not "unshare" it. I probabely "shared" it when I tried to send it by mail. But my account at work (groupwise) does not work with EN. I have reinstalled, rebootet etc.Nothing helps. I can sync from the Iphone to online but not from my Desktop (Windows) to any of my devices - however changes I made on the Iphone have been synced to the desktop. I worked for ours yesterday on my desktop to reorganize all my notes..... Have 450 notes and 25 Notebooks now. What can I do????? Link to comment

Eamon 0
I'm also getting this error; on my W7 machine running version 5.2.1.3108. The W8.1 laptop (Surface Pro) also running latest version but syncs fine. The Android app on my Moto X also works fine, though it probably functions as a web client and does not really sync anyway. Frustrating. I do notice that the sync failure is an inability to upload from the W7 program; notes added directly via the web client, or clipped from a browser add-on are downloaded to the W7 application during a "failed" sync. Update: Able to isolate my problem by exporting notebooks and then deleting notebooks from app. Did not seem to matter if trash emptied or not (W7 app trash "notebook" did not sync up to servers, but this did not get flagged as an error). Problem file seem to be from a website clipped via chrome or IE some time ago. The files had previously synced and were in my default folder. I recently created a new filder using the W7 app and moved the files there. That's when the problem started I guess. The locally moved versions must have become corrupted and would not sync. The previously synced versions remained in my default notebook. I trashed the files in the local notebook. Using the web client, I moved the files from the default notebook to the newly created notebook and they synced without a problem. Can send a sample problem file needed. If this file is put in any non-trash notebook, then I get the sync error. Otherwise I don't. Link to comment
RayP 0
I am having the same problem. It started (I think) with version 5.2.1.3108. Sync works if notes are entered on my mobiles devices, but not if they are entered on my desktop. Kind of frustrating because I have received limited support from Evernote - I have an open ticket #424676. Hard to believe there are so few people experiencing this. Link to comment
borientalis 3
I recently experienced this problem as well. Looking in the Activity Log (Help -> Activity Log) I found the following fragment: 20:27:18 [4960] 0% Updating server items20:27:18 [4960] 0% Creating server note "Sightseeing with Free Shuttle Bus...", resource count: 220:27:29 [4960] 0% EDAMUserException: errorCode=DATA_REQUIRED parameter="Data.body"20:27:29 [4960] 0% Session terminated abnormally, elapsed time: 18s20:27:29 [4960] 0% * sent: 1.1KB, received: 141B20:27:29 [5908] Client synchronization finished, status: failed20:27:29 [5908] * error: Sync failed due to unexpected behavior at client side20:27:29 [5908] * elapsed time: 18s It seemed like the sync was choking on this particular note, so I exported it out as an ENEX file, then deleted it.The sync worked fine after that.I then imported the note back and the sync continued to be fine... Dianne_A 1
I did something that triggered this same error message this afternoon and came here looking for ideas. Looking in the Activity Log, I found references to two notes which seemed to be causing a problem - have no idea why, as those notes were saved about 10 days ago - on the same day, coincidentally. But, I haven't had any error messages until this afternoon. Thought maybe it might be that I made several changes to a note on my iPhone, then went to the desktop to see if it had synced properly because I wanted to add more info to it on a "real keyboard". That one seemed to sync over just fine. anyway, I exported the two notes that were mentioned in the Activity Log - exported them to the desktop as ENEX files, deleted them from Evernote. Closed & reopened Evernote.Sync worked just fine.Imported each note back and synced after each import. Sync worked fine. Don't know what was causing the problem. But, the export/import trick worked this time. Thanks for posting it. Link to comment
Kyle_Coder 0
Exporting the problem notes, deleting those offending notes, syncing, importing, and resyncing worked perfectly! Thanks for the solution! Kyle Link to comment
dlu 628
FYI, "Sync failed due to unexpected behavior on the client side" is a very generic error message, so it is very likely you are running into a different problem than what someone else may post in this thread. I strongly suggest you file a ticket with Customer Support and they can get the specifics of your situation and help you out Link to comment

fredhammersmith 58
Same kind of problem here. I submitted a ticket, but support is closed until tomorrow, and it would be very useful for me to resolve issues today. Here is what I got in my Activity log: 15:27:21 [6300] 3% EDAMUserException: errorCode=LIMIT_REACHED parameter="Notebook"15:27:21 [4752] Client synchronization finished, status: failed15:27:21 [4752] * error: Sync failed due to unexpected behavior at client side A bit prior to the sync problems, I did some streamlining of my notebooks because I was getting to the limit pf synchonized notebooks (which is 250 I think). After merging multiple notebooks and deleting the emptied ones, I started getting this error message. This is on my desktop Windows 7 station. My iPhone app and my laptop Windows 8 app are working fine. Link to comment

Emerson Gonçalves 0
Solved this problem by uninstalling evernote using the advanced option of Revo Uninstaller. Then installed again and synchronization started functioning normally. Link to comment
