Hello, my first time here. I love the product. I have it installed on a Mac, a WIN/XP and and iPhone ...

What I would like to know is what use is the twitter integration? I already can send notes to En from the web, my iPhone client and the desktop clients. Why do I want twitter, please?

There are plenty of people who use Twitter and keep it open all the time to Tweet. It is just simply a way to speed up their workflow so they don't have to switch applications - to send a note to Evernote, they just have to add @myEN to their Tweet and "Bam!" it's in Evernote.

Thank you, that makes sense for some people. But does it also appear on the Twitter (would not want "Buy milk" wasting bandwidth ).

I am sorry. I am not a novice. I do not know why I should be finding out how it got into the wrong hands - I followed the instructions precisely and I did not notice any caveat about the possibility of getting hit with 10 spams an hour.

Sorry if I wasn't clear ... I meant that you probably want to figure out how this email address was harvested from your computer, because this may indicate a bigger security problem on your system.

While I couldn't absolutely rule out a problem at Evernote, I haven't heard of this occurring with any of the other 1.2 million people who've created Evernote accounts, so it may be worth your while to check your system and web browser for malicious software:

1) I run this on a Mac!!!

2)I have my own mail and web server running on AIX RISC

3) I have about a thousand emails and I never had a problem

4) The messages are obviously formated for EverNote (they use your coding standard) so the spammers know this is going to EverNote.

6) The "re-generated" address can be validated in a few seconds unless you start introducing more randomness than a number

Do not take me wrong - this is a great product and I would love to use it. But having my notebook polluted all the time does not "compute". Here is a sample I got since the last time I re-gened the email:

I have no way I know of of tracing these spams, though now I am quite ready to help in stopping them.

Ok, thanks for the information. Evernote will process any email that goes into your "incoming email address" and convert it into our format, so any spam directed to that address (or an address which forwards to that address) would get converted into an Evernote note automatically.

I checked the SMTP routing headers on each of the recent emails sent to your account, and all of them were forwarded in to your Evernote account by your mail server (rs6k...). I.e. it appears that you're forwarding mail into your Evernote account from some mail account which is itself receiving spam. Perhaps your Postfix configuration is sending us the raw incoming mail from your mail server, and you're seeing a spam-filtered view from your own mail account, so you don't realize the volume of spam your mail server is receiving to that account.

I'll send you the detailed information separately so you can resolve it, but I'd recommend disabling all forwarding into your Evernote account for now.

I have investigated this and you are correct. The problem was that the routing was done before whitelist. I have now disabled the routing of mail and have no more problem.
