Web Clipper doesn't work with latest Google Chrome & Chromium

Google Chrome 34.0.1807.0 canary

Windows 7 SP1 x64

Windows 8.1 x64

 

When I click Web Clipper button nothing happens. I can't even login in Web Clipper.

Thx for the report, we will take a look. It is not uncommon that Canary breaks extensions in the early stages.

I am having the same problem, with the 1807 build of Canary - it just updated to 1809 yesterday and still having the same problem.  When I click on the Web Clipper nothing happens.

 

I am on Mac osX 10.9.1

 

Interestingly, when the extension first installs, the toolbar appears as part of the demo - then it vanishes and the button is bricked.

Yes Chrome made some changes in their API that are part of Canary. The next release will make Web Clipper compatible.

I can confirm I have the same issue on Google Chrome Dev (not Canary), on OSX 10.9.1.

Canary often behaves this way, we test against stable and beta so if Web Clipping is important the best recommendation I have is to stay on one of thoose channels.

When I click on the web clipper I can select a folder and add tags. Then when I click on save the syncing symbol appears and it spins indefinitely without ever actualling syncing to my account.

It has happened probably 20 or 30 URLs in the last week.  A lot of those would have been newspaper articles (eg., http://www.calgaryherald.com/technology/Coyotes+will+flourish+amphibians+will+hotter+drier+Alberta/9970870/story.html)

That sample page clips fine in our testing. If you can reproduce the issue and send the Clipper error logs to me in a Private Message I can look into it further.

just updated (automatically) my Chrome to Version 36.0.1985.125 m and apparently the Chrome Add-on of Clipper does not work anymore with that version!!

We just released a fix to patch this error popup. 

Users should get auto updated to the latest version 6.2.1 which has the fix applied either in the background or on Chrome restart. 

 

To force updates manually:

1) Visit chrome://extensions and set it to developer mode and push the button 'Update Extensions Now' at the top of the page. 

2) Users can uninstall then re-install from https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/evernote-web-clipper/pioclpoplcdbaefihamjohnefbikjilc

 

And then verify you are running 6.2.1

Thanks that got the update installed properly.  Although I was stilling having problems with webclipper, until I uninstalled the Hoot Suite extension.  There might be  a conflict there.

Can you describe in more detail what is not working for you?

- Do you see the Web Clipper button in the Chrome toolbar?

- After installing it do you restart Chrome?

- What happens when you click the toolbar button?

- Is it broken on all pages or a few?

- Do you get any error messages?

I too just noticed the web clipper is not working...I've tried on 10 or so various websites. At first nothing happened so I uninstalled and re-installed the clipper. Then I got this error message:

"The Clipper couldn't start on this page. Reload the page and try again. If that doesn't help, contact customer support."
