The Qodesmith 15 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm looking at Evernote premium and the main feature I'm interested in is being able to have others edit notes that I share with them. Am I understanding correctly that if I pay for premium and share a note with a free-account user, that user would have the ability to edit those shared notes? Why would 2 people pay for the service then if all we need to do is both edit notes? Are there limitations to note editing with only one person having a premium account? I'm trying to understand the limitations since only note-editing is what we're looking for. Thanks.

They can edit notes in a shared notebook, though. As a Free member, you can give others the ability to modify notes in one of your notebooks. You don't even have to upgrade to Premium for this. If you upgrade to Premium, you can share as many as 250 notebooks with modification privileges. Here are the limits you need to keep in mind. http://www.christopher-mayo.com/?p=169 Behind your question is one about the Evernote business model. If Evernote doesn't mine your data (like Google), and you don't pay for the service (it is free forever), then what's in it for Evernote? They say that if a service is free, then you are (usually) the product. Evernote's plan is actually pretty straightforward -- the longer you are using Evernote, the more likely you are to keep using it, and the more likely you are to upgrade to Premium or Business to get even more benefits (see the link above). They want as many people as possible to use their service so that they can expand their paying customer base.
