(Archived) Leading spaces often removed by Evernote for Windows

I've encountered an annoying little issue with Evernote over the past 6+ months.   When I have some lines in a text note that have leading spaces, quite often the spaces are arbitrarily removed at some point after editing is complete.  I don't think it happens immediately on synch, but sometime thereafter, in response to some other code-based event.  The notes are plain text, except for a few words in bold.

 

I use Evernote on Windows 7 (in Chrome browser) and on my Android smartphone.

 

Example note as I enter it:

 

Sample text 1

    - item 1

    - item 2

    - item 3

Sample text 2

 

(The three dashes each have 4 leading spaces.)

Example note after it has been stripped of leading spaces:

 

Sample text 1

- item 1

- item 2

- item 3

Sample text 2

 

I would love to see this issue fixed.  Has anyone else been hampered by this behavior?

There are annoyances with the editor and incompatibilities between desktop and mobile device editing capabilities,  but your situation is new..  

 

I'd suggest a support request and a little research to check whether the effect is applicable only to:

• new desktop notes edited on the mobile device
• new notes created on the device edited on the desktop,  or
• both

Meantime you should be able to preserve the formatting of documents in different file formats - PDF or JPG if that's important to you.
