(Archived) Block sync to internet

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm working in a laboratory and wanna do my lab journal with Evernote. The problem is that this data is confidential and have to be saved on a local server. How can I block the sync of my data the Evernote online server?

Thanks for your help

If the lab is happy with you doing so,  you could set up a 'local notebook' (set up a new notebook and follow the options) which will not be synced back to the servers.  I'd let Evernote save the notes to your local device storage and back that up to the remote server however - Evernote doesn't play well if you try to relocate the database folder too far away.  Do others need access to your notes?

The standard way is to use one or more local (i.e., unsynced) notebooks to keep certain notes from being synced to the Evernote servers. You need to be a premium user to be able to create local notebooks.

Dude...

No, you do not need to be premium to create local notebooks.

It's helpful if you specify which client(s) you're using. Local notebooks can only be created in the desktop apps (Mac/Windows).

Dudette,

Sorry, my misunderstanding then -- somehow I thought it was a premium thingy, for some reason. Usually I'm pretty good about specifying the desktop / mobile distinction, too. Old age?

Wow thank you so much for this quick answers. I think than it would be no problem to us Evernote for my project.

Just another tiny question. Is it possible to lock a note after you wrote it, that you can't edit it afterwards? I know its sounds strange but its about scientific working that you don't manipulate your data.

Yes, I know you're usually very good. I figured you were thinking of offline notebooks.  ;)
