It would be great to be able to post a note on a home screen, sticky note style...with or without reminder/expiration parameters (show for four days, post on homescreen on Mondays).

Try the Evernote Widgets - you can display a variety of note formats.  Or you can embed a link.  The reminders bit would be new though - maybe when reminders work that way in the main app,  there will be widget options too..

One of the things that you can do with the Evernote widget (or one of them, there seem to be a few; I'm referring to the Evernote List widget) is to set it up to display the notes from a saved search. That saved search could be as simple as a search that will only ever turn up a single note, or a more complicated query.
