(Archived) How do I delete "recent searches" on IOS 7 (Ipad)?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete my "recent searches".  I have no use, nor do I want to see this list of things I've searched for previously.  I don't want anyone looking over my shoulder seeing what I did search for previously.

 

I've cleared the cache.  I've searched for every setting.  I've searched online.  I've shaken it upside-down. I've called my computer tech nephew.  

 

It's a simple thing that every other program that I've ever used lets me do even "Google"

 

But for some reason I can't find it here.

 

So please, please..

 

How is this done?

Just swipe your finger to the left on a recent search entry and press the appearing "delete" text.
