(Archived) Transfer Evernote to New Mac

I have been using a MAC BOOK PRO with my Evernote account. I'm running low on storage space on my MAC BOOK PRO.

I recently purchased a new iMAC with more storage. I have downloaded the Evernote application and installed it onto the new iMAC. I downloaded all my Evernote content.

I'm keeping my MAC BOOK PRO but will be deleting all files from the hard drive to free up space.

How do I tell Evernote that I want it to save new data on the iMAC going forward? Tp be more clear, I want to make sure that when I delete the files off the MAC BOOK PRO, it doesn't delete those files off of the iMAC, as that's where I want it stored.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Uninstall Evernote from your Mac Book Pro, so that it won't be syncing any more. Then you can go ahead and delete any Evernote data files that you have.

If you have any local notebooks, which will not have been synced to EN's cloud, you should be sure to back them up to your new iMac.

Otherwise EN will sync with your new machine regardless of the disappearance of the version on your MBP. You are not deleting notes from that machine, just deleting the app. And all your notes will remain intact on EN's servers.

Correct. And I want to reiterate what trumpetg said: make sure to have backups. Always have backups. In fact, I recommend you have backups of backups in different physical locations. This goes for anyone using a computer, but especially for people planning on deleting anything, changing computers, etc. Mac makes this unbelievably easy: buy an external hard drive, plug it in, follow the prompts, and you are finished -- TimeMachine will take care of everything for you.
