(Archived) There is only one reason I still use MS Note

Recommended Posts

I use Evernote for everything but one last thing now. With one OneNote I can create a new note using voice commands (IE: "Note Remember to hide the body"). It creates a new note and attaches the audio...this is great when driving (either my car or my motorcycle). Any plans to add such a feature to Evernote? Or is it there and I've missed it?

Hi - welcome to the forums.  The Android evernote widget includes a 'voice note' button for the home screen,  and my Samsung GS3 has it's own built-in voice activation feature that I could probably use to open the app.  I've never played with it far enough to find out.  If your phone doesn't have these features it may be more down to the OS than to Evernote - the various device teams have a general instruction to make each specific application as good as they can within the limits of the capabilities of that device.  Improvements may be under way,  but Evernote also have a rule not to share their plans...

Siri: "Remember to take blood sample before hiding the body." Then, have Siri email it to your Evernote account email address, which you have saved in your contacts. All done :)

Except...this is tagged Windows phone...

As Gaz said, it may be a limitation imposed by the OS of your phone. Maybe it's something they can/will add later. Also as Gaz said, EN does not publish their road map or ETAs.

I've wondered this as well.

For those of you without Windows Phone, you can long press on the Start button and it goes into a voice commands mode (similar to Siri).

There are common commands central to the OS like call, text, note, etc.

But there are also app-specific hooks:

"Dictionary.com define a word"

"Twitter new tweet"

This would be the perfect place to have something like:

"Evernote new text|audio|picture note"

"Evernote search TNT recipe"

"Evernote notebook hideaways"

"Evernote tag alibis"

"Evernote shortcut 1"
