(Archived) Evernote Audio Recording Volume Varies Wildly

Recommended Posts

Have Samsung S4. Do a lot of voice notes / audio recordings. When I play them back volume goes from very loud to so soft I can barely hear it, and then back again. Any ideas what might be causing this?

The Samsungs have a noise-cancelling system that sometimes seems to get in the way when recording ambient sounds.  You could try a bluetooth headset for personal notes,  and make sure the phone is held solid,  insulated from vibrations, and the mic is aimed generally at the sound source when recording remotely.

Thank you. I went to settings/call/noise reduction and turned it off. Will that help? As to Bluetooth, which I use for all phone calls, I have been unable to figure out how to get the phone to use the Bluetooth when using Evernote - I have tried, but see no way to tell the app to get sound from Bluetooth not the handheld. I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro.

Don't know whether switching off noise cancelling will help - try it and see!  As to recording from Bluetooth,  it may be that the Evernote app doesn't yet offer that option - you may find that other more specialised recording apps will do so.  You can still embed a file from another app in your Evernote notes if it works better for your specific recording needs...
