(Archived) can not find one note

Recommended Posts

I am very very angry, I save important data and result in a note yesterday.

Then today, i can not find it. I do not know why???

If I made a mistake and delete it, I should found it in trash, but there is nothing. I do not know why..

Thank you.

It's really hard to help you with so little information. Did you try sorting notes by either date created or date modified & then looking at either the top notes or the bottom notes (depending upon if you've sorted in ascending or descending order). Did you search for words that would be in the note? What client are you using?

Thank you for your reply. I understand your mean, I sort the note by data created. I search the key word, but can not find it. I do not know why. I use a client for windows 7, and I also use the online version. I am not sure it is caused by my wrong operation on online evernote? for example, if a note is deleted on the online version, it will be put in trash or not?

Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem. I have started a support ticket for you. Hopefully, Evernote support will be able to help.

I am guessing that you were using the Web client, and it did not automatically save your note as it should have, or perhaps it is in the trash inside that client. If you log into the Web client at www.evernote.com, you can check your trash there.

In general, my advice would be to use the native clients for each device whenever possible. The Web client is OK, and I use it on occasion, but there are a lot of benefits to using the native applications. One of these is that you can backup your data just in case.

Thank you very much for your meanful information.

Firstly, this morning, I search the key word on the online version, and can not found it in the trash either. I use the online version, but I remember I did not edit that note.

Actually, I created that note on the native client of my personal laptop, so I was wondering If the native client back up the data automatically? Then I can recover the notebook?

Now it is not important for me of this note, because I can do it again. The much more interesting and important thing is to find out why this issue happened.

I think the note should not disappeared.

Thank you.

Hi. I agree that it should not have disappeared, but there are a few steps to go through first before we determine that there was actually data lost. Support can walk you through those. In particular, they should be able to help you find your note histories, which will enable you to recover the data, and they can go through your activity logs to see what happened.
