(Archived) Premium Question - Sharing with other users

Recommended Posts

I had a quick question on sharing if I go Premium.  If I share a note or notebook with my wife, does she need to be premium also in order to view or edit?  I tried looking for an FAQ about Premium and didn't see one.

TIA.

Hi. No, she can be Free. I've posted about this on my site, along with other limits you might want to know about:

Sharing and Joining Notebooks:

  • Free = You can share notebooks, but you cannot give others the ability to modify them. You can join notebooks, and if the owner of the notebook is Premium and they enable you to make modifications, you can create and edit notes in the notebook. Please note that you cannot create tags, though, no matter what payment tier you have. Only the notebook owner (regardless of payment tier) can do that.
  • Premium = In addition to everything the Free users can do, you can share notebooks and you can give others the ability to modify them.
  • Business = In addition to everything the Premium users can do, you also have the ability to share and join notebooks in your Business Library. Once you have shared your notebook to a Business Library, though, you will not be able to delete it. You can delete the notes, but only the administrator can empty the trash and permanently delete them.

As you can see, my search on

share notebook

returns the valid & accurate link I posted as the first hit.

Yes, you are correct. Many other users have complained about it.

The search function in the forum is hog-tied. It is run by a 3rd party program.

I've given up on it and jump out to Google (outside the forum) for better results.

When I see something interesting (frequently from GrumpyMonkey or spg Scott) I will copy it to my Evernote account for future reference.
