(Archived) Creating a Note - Interface suggestion

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a good "Note Manager" to quickly add and lookup notes.  Creating a note is the core idea behind evernote and yet, surprisingly, it is cumbersome to create one - When creating a new note in Evernote, the cursor is placed in the body text area with no way to easily add a title to the note.  For one, shouldn't the "Title" textbox be the default textbox so you can add a title to the note?  If not, shouldn't it be possible to navigate to the "Title" textbox from the text area by pressing Shift + Tab?   ??????

I agree, and my biggest annoyance is that the tags can only be attributed through that tiny little 'i' icon which my fingers nearly always end up activating a voice memo instead :(

Surely Evernote is built upon 2 things, notebooks and tags, yet tags are two taps away from every new note.....

As to titles,  if you start typing in the note area,  the first words/ line of your note will become the title - unless you use 'smart titling' in which case Evernote might put something in there for you...

And for tags - which version of Evernote are we talking here?  I have a menu option which says 'tags'...

Thanks Gazumped.  Auto-titling would reduce the need to add a title manually but I would still suggest that they make the controls navigable via Tab/Shift+Tab in the Desktop client.  That's standard convention in all desktop applications and feels "broken" in Evernote.

I'm referring to iPhone when talking about tags. Thanks.

Nobody specified any client whatsoever, so I added info that might be relevant to someone (particularly as the original poster referenced "Shift+Tab"). I can't speak to iOS or Mac.

@Ka3m0n_PAV: tabbing around Evernote's UI in Windows has been funky for a while; it would be great to have that fixed.
