(Archived) Evernote search not working

Following a hard reboot on a Windows 7 system, the search function in my Evernote Windows client has ceased to function.  

It returns no results.  

Have tried reloading and reinstalling the Evernote client (latest version 4.6.6.8360) with no result.  

 

Also noticed that client is not permitting creation of new notes, and if I add a note via Evernote web interface and then try to sync the Windows client, it reports a sync error "due to unexpected behavior on client side".
