Hello, I was wondering where my Evernote attachments are stored on my PC.

I have the free account and can not locate a copy of my attachments on my PC under the Evernote install directory.

Do you have to have to paid for account for all attachments to be locally on the hard drive?

I do understand that in order for them to locally on my mobile devices I would need the paid for upgrade.

Thanks for any help.

Attachments are stored in the Evernote database (username.exb file).

Ok thanks. I assume if I did the paid for version it would also store them locally on my mobile devices in that same format. Would that be correct?

I guess what I am getting at is if I should could keep another copy of attachments somewhere for safe keeping in case they ever became unavailable through Evernote. Sort of like a back up of the attchements.

Currently I upload them and then delete them from my computer. Wondering if I should keep them all somewhere for back up purposes.

Thanks again!

WRT attachments on the Windows client, there is no difference between free & premium.  If you want to keep a local copy of the attachments on your hard drive, you will need to do this yourself.  Personally, I scan to my hard drive & then simply copy the file to an import folder so I have a copy on my hard drive (that is then later backed up to my cloud backup - Amazon S3) and in Evernote.  It's not so much that I distrust Evernote as it is that I've been burned several times over the years.  You backup your important stuff with Backup Plus or to Zip drives, Jaz drives, HP Colorado trakker tapes, CDs, etc & then when you need them, you cannot restore them because either the device or the software is not compatible with a newer computer or OS or maybe it is but the computer says the backup file is corrupt...(IE tape stored in the heat, CD scratched, etc.)  So I do not put all my important eggs in one basket.  My motto is a girl can never be too rich, too thin or have too many backups.  ;-)
