(Archived) I must be missing something about clipping from web

I clip a section, thinking it will save it, I can make my notes while I read it, and move on to the next,then go back and organize them, right?  Here's what I get when I clip as a new note, OR paste it into a note.

I try to edit and click out formatting and links but it all still shows up. 

If that's the way it will be every time, this will be more time consuming just cutting and pasting it into a word processor. 

So this will clearly not work for me. 

 

I assume I'm missing the obvious.  Please advise and help me get in line with the heads of the developers.

i just downloaded web clipper, so it is the latest version i assume?

win 7

cut and paste or snip from any verse at biblegateway.com and it comes out the same way. inconvenient. but i found out this is the only place it occurs, so i am not as annoyed. but if i can fix it, please advise.

i will get the version later when i get up out of bed. 5.30 am....

Thx, can confirm we have issues handling the formatting on that particular site. Will look into if we can support it better in future releases. Thx for the report.

Great.  Is there something they could do differently to make it work with you?  I've been griping at them too.  I want it to work perfectly for me every time, everywhere.  I'm not expecting much.

They have formatted the content in a way that the Web Clipper cannot handle when it converts form HTML to ENML (Evernote Markup Language) I'm not technical enough to give any recommendations but following W3 standards would be a start and not put content inside iFrames (not sure if they do that or not...)

Just opened that site, ran clipper, sent it to a Notebook checked on web and it arrived fine.

 

Also using Chrome and Windows 7.

@Chris - did you do a selection clip? And it showed up fine in Evernote?

Forgive me but I am not sure I know what you mean by a 'selection clip'

 

I just clicked on the Evernote Clipper icon, made sure it had selected all of the text on the web site and saved it to a specific Notebook.

 

Something tells me you are both talking about something else?

I went the page, highlighted what I wanted.  Right clicked it, chose the web clicker ellie phant, and tried all three options over there.  I got the coding in every instance.  So, You are smarter than me and I broke it, but I'd like to learn if that gives you enough to tell me my error.  Thanks for looking into it though.

Chris, it seems what you're doing - and what appears to be working correctly - is to let the web clipper identify the region on the page for itself.  What LogosCatalyst is trying is to select a specific portion of text, then clip.  I've used this method myself when the clipper has trouble identifying what I'm after, but it seems to be slightly broken on that site!
