Chouray 2
All fixed. Working with Frank in Tech Support was a great help. MS uninstaller would not work. Used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove all folders, files and registry keys. One file could not be removed until a reboot was performed. Then installed this version per Frank: http://evernote.s3.amazonaws.com/win11/prerelease/Evernote_4.6.1.7772.exe Install was flawless and update to latest version performed perfectly. Link to comment
Sjaak 4
Very quiet from the Evernote people on this topic. Wonder why. I cannot install and the web based version now cannot be edited. Looks like this means I cannot rely on it to work. Time to move on? Link to comment

Wonder why.Not sure what you mean. dlu, heather and gbarry -- all Evernote employees -- have posted on the 4.6 installation problems elsewhere (see the link above). I cannot install and the web based version now cannot be edited. Looks like this means I cannot rely on it to work. Time to move on?Did you try the methods suggested in the link posted above? I'm not sure what you mean by "the web based version now cannot be edited". Does that mean that you cannot edit notes using the web version? Link to comment
Cuvee 0
There are 205 threads to this issue. Can someone please definitively state what should be done to fix this? It appears that the software needs to be removed completely from the desktop, and then a pre-release version is to be installed. Is that correct? Link to comment

I've got over 20,000 notes and I use it every day. This data is important to me and I don't want to risk jeopardizing it.The older version works just fine for me.I'll let the more adventuresome souls test the upgrade water and watch what they have to say.Learn from others. samthesplatt 0
Well I tried the upgrade like everyone else and it failed. But I have managed to install the update.... Its quite simple, just uninstall your existing version and run the update, which is the complete software. Worked a treat. Link to comment
TLhM 0
The error code 2732 is caused by Windows Installer Search for "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility", download and execute itSelect any information of Evernote installation and remove it.Then try again the update and it wiil work perfectly. This worked for me without any uninstallation or registry modification. JPatterson 1
Easiest solution that worked for me. StartRunType "cmd" and hit [ENTER]Type "set" and hit [ENTER]Find TEMP=C:\Whatever path is listed (i.e. C:\Users\Userx\AppData\Temp)Copy that path.Open My Computer or Windows ExplorerPaste the path Delete all the files in that directory that you can delete. Some may be in use. Just skip those. Run the upgrade again. Go back to the TEMP directory.Find "Evernote.msi"Right-click and select "Run as Administrator" The installation should complete. Hopes this helps. Link to comment

There is a small number of approaches that have been verified as working in some, but not all, cases. They are all listed out in the related (but also unfortunately lengthy) topic here: http://discussion.ev...32-workarounds/ From some of the other threads I've looked at, I was able to get the new version installed by doing the following: 1. Install the new version (my exisiting version was 4.6.3) but going to the directory the .msi file is located. (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\). It successfully installed on my WIn7 x64 laptop, which I was able to verify through the start menu and the control panel option for programs and features. NOTE: Here I noticed that both the new version (4.6.5) and the old version (4.6.3) were shown. From how I had the old version installed, my existing shortcuts would point to the old version and not the new version, so I deleted all by old shortcuts and created new ones based on the start menu entries. 2. Uninstall the old version (4.6.3). Since I deleted my old shortcuts first, I don't know if that removed my old shortcuts, or updated them to the new version (which it didn't). That's all I had to do - no editing the registry, no using Revo to uninstall, no "Run as Administrator". Hope this helps. Link to comment

bzt8fs 0
Ditto what TLhM said. This is a Microsoft installer issue. I have windows 8 64 bit and had the same error when attempting to update. Went to the Microsoft website and ran their "Fix it" application, told it I was having problems uninstalling 4.6.3, when it completed, I ran the latest Evernote Installer and it ran quickly and correctly. About now shows V4.6.4.8136 installed, the windows uninstaller shows only this version of Evernote installed and my syncing works correctly. Hopefully, this will work for the rest of you as well. Good Luck! Link to comment
Izaco 1
Yes, this seems to happen on some subset of Windows 64bit users. I suggest users go contact customer support. If you feel comfortable doing it on your own, here's what seems to work for the instances I have encountered. 1. Backup your files and data.2. Download something like REVO3. Have local notes? Make another backup!4. No really, make backup5. Do a full uninstall with REVO or another tool of your choice6. Go download 4.6.4 from evernote.com If you have any questions that the fine folks on this forum can't answer, customer should be able to help.I followed your instruction exactly as presented and they do not work. TLhM THIS IS GREAT. Fixed my issues in 5 minutes! (I would like to add that you Run the fix-it-program AS ADMIN".)(It failed to install when I first tried to install it "normally".) I had this "can't install efvernote"-issue first a while back and now again today. Much thanks for the solution! *love* Link to comment

Bad Doggie 0
Hi, I've just had the same problem updating from 4.6.3 to 4.6.4. Windows 7 x64 SP1. Solution for me was to completely uninstall 4.6.3 from Control Panel -> Program's and Features then download and and install 4.6.4 from the web site.Tried that. Also tried iObit Advanced System Care Ultimate etc. Same error whether trying to install or uninstall. Also weird: both laptop and desktop run Windows 7 64-bit. Desktop had the problem but later fixed it on its own. I still can't fix it on the laptop. Link to comment
