Lemayp 58 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hello, I faced some "Conflicting Changes" scenario this morning but was somehow puzzled because the note in conflict was created/updated from a single place, i.e. from my Evernote for Windows... I have investigated this and could reproduce at will. Here is how to (All steps from Evernote Windows): Take an existing note, make a small change to its content (I have added a single dot at the start of it during my tests).Click the Share button...That's it. This will force a sync and I have end up with 2 versions of my notes. One in the original notebook, which end up WITHOUT THE CHANGE I JUST MADE before pressing Share, and one in the "conflicting Changes" notebook, appearing with the change I just did. Should be easy to reproduce. Thanks, Pierre Evernote 4.6.2.7927 (268435) Public
Level 5* jefito 5,598 Posted February 26, 2013 Level 5* Posted February 26, 2013 Hmmm. Tried exactly what you suggested. Tried it with sharing set up as Copy Note URL to Clipboard, and as Send By Email. Both of these operations caused a forced sync, as you note, but I did not wind up with a conflicting note in either case. The original note retained the edits that I made, in both cases. This is in the current 4.6.3.8033 beta.
dlu 628 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I can't seem to reproduce either... are you perhaps using two Windows computers?
Level 5* GrumpyMonkey 4,320 Posted February 27, 2013 Level 5* Posted February 27, 2013 You know what, I had a conflicting change today after sharing as well. But, I was on my Mac. I will keep an eye out for this on that client as well. Like the others, though, I have not been able to reproduce it.
Lemayp 58 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Hi everyone, Thanks for following up. Sorry I forgot to add a follow on this topic and was not notified that some responses were waiting for me. When I posted this I was on the computer at work. Tonight I tried the same scenario from home (Windows too) and was able to reproduce.. For this one, I have selected a note that was in my "@wait" notebook. Add a single "." at the end of the first line of the note content, and Clicked the Share button. This force evernote to synch since the note was not shared before. Since I normally display All my notebooks ordered by "Change date", my note appeared at the top of the list (as expected), but appears as belonging to the "Conflicting changes" notebook. Evernote was fully synch before, and the note used has not been altered for months before changing it today. I click the "Share" button, the one that include a "down arrow" list of options such as "Send by mail", etc.. Below are some lines from the log file from evernote. Let me know how I could help you investigate this.
