Hi,

Ive only just started using Evernote after installing it about a year ago.  A new found love if you will.

But because I havent used it for so long, its outdated.  When Evernote/windows asks me to update, I click OK.

The progress bar then goes through the motions, and fills up with the familiar green.  At the end it just says, unable to update.  Please try again later.  OK.

That's it. What can I do to fix it?

If I uninstall, will I lose all my notes, or are they on the cloud and Ill be able to reload them?

(also, Ive synched notes from my iPad version, which is the newest version, but I dont see how that would stop me from updating on the Windows)

Cheers,

I'm getting this as well. I see this in the log:

@snakenuts: if you uninstall, you will retain all of your notes. The notes are stored in a local database, and the new version will pick them up automatically.

@jmontana: I was able to access all of the URLs shown in your message (http://update.evernote.com/public/ENWin4/update.xml, http://update.evernote.com/public/ENWin4/ReleaseNotes_4.6.2.7927_en-us.html) as well as the URL from the XML file that points to the update package (http://cdn1.evernote.com/win4/public/Evernote_4.6.2.7927.exe). I'd try again, and if that fails, try downloading the update package directly from the previous URL (http://cdn1.evernote.com/win4/public/Evernote_4.6.2.7927.exe), then run it. If that doesn't work, then you should probably open a support request; see the link in my signature.

@jefito There has been an update since, and now the progress bar goes all the way to the end, then disappears and I get the message that there is an update available. It's like it downloads it, but never actually updates itself. I'm downloading the executable directly (http://cdn1.evernote.com/win4/public/Evernote_4.6.3.8096.exe) right now, and I'm going to see if running that does anything.

Cheers,

If you have no unsync'd notes and no local/non-synced notebooks, all your notes will be in the cloud & can be downloaded. If you're unsure about either of those things, I would backup your your-username.exb file as a precaution. You can then uninstall Evernote & install a fresh version.
