(Archived) How am I missing this most basic of things?

Hi all. New user here. Somehow the most basic of functionality has me stumped.

When I create a note in Evernote (either on web or on android), I am able to see my notes from the "Notes" view or the "Notebooks" view.

But when I select a note to try and view its contents, I get the "spinning circle" icon in the upper right corner (is that synch? not sure) and the text box under the note title is completely blank. I dont actually see the contents of the note.

If I select the pencil for edit, the note contents show up for editing, but I cant find a way to see the actual contents other than that.

Help please?
