(Archived) basic question on formatting - my words are hiding

Over the past 24 hours, my notes keep formatting themselves (OK, I realise it's probably me doing something wrong but I don't know what) so that the left column starts out of the actual notes area, and the first word of the sentence is usually out of view (see attachment - the full sentence at the bottom reads "So that my sentence starts like that", but the word 'so' is out of view.

Now, I can correct it by just pressing the tab, but I don't want to press the tab every time I start on a new line, and I can't figure out how this is happening in the first place.

If anyone could enlighten me, that would be much appreciated!
