(Archived) Why can't Evernote link to things other than websites?

When I create links or set "source" in my notes, Evernote will only permit me to use http:// or https:// links. Why can't I put in ssh://, ftp://, sftp://, or even weirder links that support various programs with their own URL handlers?

Seems like a totally unnecessary restriction.
