superliminal 0
I just started using Evernote as a free user. I like it so far, but I have one suggestion I'd really like to see.I have images in all of my notes (as reference for design and art), most of them are from websites. It would be very convenient if, when a url is pasted into a note, you can select an image from that website to post in your note. (Facebook uses this same technique when you post a url).Would anyone else find this useful?thanks Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,042 Posted December 18, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted December 18, 2012 Hi superliminal - welcome to the forums. I know the function you mean - I'm on Facebook too. But I think it's more complicated than you're suggesting. In Facebook you get a summary of the link contents, plus a choice of a limited number of thumbnails. Often it's just the one, sometimes there's none at all. Don't know what parameters Facebook uses to select pictures or the summary, but I assume there's some HTML magic behind that. Either way it takes a little while to download the options, select your preference and accept the choices. I prefer Evernote's lean and mean approach to URLs - what you click is what you get. It's quick and efficient. If you want more from the site, open the page and select the item(s) you need. Thanks for suggesting this, but I vote no. Link to comment
superliminal 0
Thanks for the reply gazumped, Valid point. The facebook-style image insertion very well may not be the answer. More generally, what I'm after is a quicker, easier way to post images in my notes that I find on the web. I am using Evernote as more of a bookmark manager. I like being able to organize my bookmarks by tags, along with a reference image of the site (they are mostly art/design based). If there is something visual that I am interested in on a website, I have to download the image to my desktop, add the downloaded image to my note, add with the URL of where it came from, then delete the image so it doesn't clutter up my hard drive.I could very well be the only one using Evernote in this way ... just a thought I wanted to share. Thanks Link to comment

They get the images, text & URL. Link to comment
superliminal 0
Wow ... didn't know that existed! Just what I was looking for, thanks! Link to comment
catbert 36
Or, if you don't want to clip the whole page (because it's too big, or has too much irrelevant information, or whatever) you could clip just the URL, then drag-and-drop a representative image from the web page into your note.
