karmalized 0 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Hey there, When I try and log in with the new client, I am receiving an invalid host name error during authentication. The exact error is: Error occured while interacting with Evernote service: The host name in the certificate is invalid or does not match. Anyone know how this can be resolved?
engberg 89 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Try going to this page from the mobile IE browser on your device:https://www.evernote.com/mobile/Login.actionIf you can't get from the web browser, that means your device's security configuration is rejecting our (valid) SSL certificate issued by VeriSign.
karmalized 0 Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Hey there, I know why I bought an iphone now :-) when I try to login to the given web page, nothing actually happens. I click the sign in button, the explorer bar moves for a second, and then nothing changes. So most likely the pda is not parsing the instructions properly. I will keep looking into this.
karmalized 0 Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 I have just tried the NetFront web browser and I have no problem accessing the secure web site. I tried to relogin with evernote and it is still failing. Anyone know how I can import the verisign certificate into the PDA?
engberg 89 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 This isn't a standardized operation across all WM devices, unfortunately, but many devices have a specific way to do it. You may need to search around a bit using your model and words like "certificate" and "import"
karmalized 0 Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 Well I have looked around and can't seem to find the verisign certificate to import. Anyone know where I can get a proper cert to import?
engberg 89 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Here's the appropriate Verisign root certificate.Their whole collection of roots is available from them here: https://www.verisign.com/support/roots.htmlUnfortunately, the process of installing the root certificate onto a specific WM device is non-standard. (I.e. Microsoft didn't standardize this.)verisign-root.cer.zip
Goro 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I installed the certificate posted above to my iPaq and it showed a message saying that the certificate was installed successfully. But I still get the same error message:Error occurred while interacting with Evernote Service:The host name in the certificate is invalid or does not match Error: 0x0010006.Any idea how to fix?
engberg 89 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I suspect that your network carrier may be to blame. What mobile carrier are you using?Could you try going to this page from the Internet Explorer on your device. Do you get any warnings or errors?https://www.evernote.com/m
Goro 0 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks,Mine isn't actually a mobile phone. Its a iPaq210, a PDA without phone.I connect to the network via Wifi connection to my LAN.I can access the URL on my IE just fine.thank you for your help.I really want this working since I depend on evernote so much.Goro
engberg 89 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Does your LAN have any firewall or proxy to the Internet? We've seen a few cases where network administrators need to explicitly permit our traffic to go out of their corporate networks. We plan to have a Windows Mobile bugfix release that addresses a few network problems that people have reported. this may also help your problem.
Goro 0 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 No, I am not using the firewall/proxy on the router.I will try connecting from some other location to see if its my LAN setting. Thanks,
saint168 0 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I have the same problem using both mobile network or wifi network. I actually wiped my phone and the connection worked for 1 night and then I got the same error again. I also have the same problem with Google Latitude.
saint168 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I just figured out my problem. It was a Chinese language software that was causing the certificate name problem. Updating this software to the latest version solved it.
digitalk 0 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I think I have the same problem as saint168 did.Dear Saint168, could you please share which Chinese language software is the problem, and which version I have to upgrade to?Thanks a lot.
