(Archived) Help - Evernote on Mac.

Help!

I have just moved over to a mac and seem to be having quite a few problems with evernote. I was previously on a PC and sort of assumed it would all work in a similar way!

I downloaded the evernote app (assuming it would be like the ipad app) and it downloaded my whole evernote library to my mac - this has really junked up the hard drive (as it's not that big) On my PC I scanned items to a folder on an external hard drive and then told evernote to 'watch' for changes. This worked really well. I was hoping to be able to do the same on the mac, but using a hard drive attached to an airport extreme.

Unfortunately I can't seem to work out where evernote has put all the files it has downloaded (so that I can delete them) and have no idea how to initiate a similar set up to the one I had previously.

I would be very grateful for any help - feel as though I have wrecked my new mac...

Many thanks.

Maybe it's because I tend to use simple solutions for my day-to-day life but I'm not sure if it is a good idea to use a network drive in the context you described.

Network drives, whatever it's on Windows or Mac, are not very efficient when you consider their usage of network ressources. I believe that you will get better performances by getting an external drive on your Mac and putting locally this data, unless absolute necessity. You should also be able to acheive the same kind of automation (automatically import data in Evernote) with Automator. Once understood, you can do things with Automator graphically with very little programming knowledge.

And no, I cannot believe that you wrecked your Mac too. :-)

Take care,

Simon
