thecrook 0
When I try to create Notebook tree hierarchy in Evernote, I cannot do the same.I have installed Evernote 8.What could be the possible reason. It is always good to be able to create Notebook hierarchy. It makes organisation easy.Any suggestion on it. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,068 Posted September 6, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted September 6, 2012 We talking 4.5.8? That's my version and seems to support trees. Evernote doesn't do more than two levels though - were you looking for more? Search tags for a lot more on this in the forums. Link to comment

BurgersNFries 2,407
How can I see the notebook tree? I do see the left panel (the one I can "hide") but it`s empty and I can`t seem to find a way to display notebooks there. The only way I can access the notebooks is via toolbar that is not handy at all.We don't even know which client the OP is using, do we?It's always helpful to let us know what client(s) you are using. We talking 4.5.8? I guess we have to guess at this, too. AFAIK, none of the EN clients are up to 8 yet.If you're using Windows, any new notebooks you've created should be displayed in the left panel. Link to comment

Evernote Expert Sugeeth Krish 476 Posted November 29, 2012 Evernote Expert Share Posted November 29, 2012 I think that Evernote needs to allow the concept of nested Notebooks. A person should be able to create as many notebooks as he wants, and place them in any order to suit their organizational needs. I realized the need for it today more than ever. The simple reason is that Evernote restricts the size of a note to 50 MB. Today, i downloaded a useful documentary program which has lots of references for my work. The size of the video ( after compressing it to a lower resolution is 100MB+), hence i can only split the file. So, i have to create seperate notes to hold the same sequential contents. So, if i can put only these 3 notes under a seperate Notebook, it would be very useful, or otherwise, there must be no restrictions on Notebook Size, subject to the user's overall monthly usage budget of Evernote Bandwidth. I'm sure it's not a restriction just to peeve off customers or b/c the devs are lazy but rather a usability/portability issue that could arise across all the devices EN lives on. Having said that, I've yet to see a case where nested notebooks truly are required. Rather than put your three notes into a separate notebook, just use a tag. OR...(my preferred method b/c I've encountered a similar issue), give them the same title except append 'part 1', 'part 2', 'part 3'. NBD.Also, the note size for premium users is now 100 mb. You never know, but I think there hasn't been any indication that they are interested in radically altering all of their clients, and maybe even their API to accomodate this feature.I doubt anything will be unlimited, and the note sizes are unlikely to increase above 100MB for a while (some clients have received a soft roll out of 100MB limits -- Mac is one of them). I wouldn't recommend relying too much on notebooks myself, and I generally don't store attachments, much less unsearchable stuff in my account.http://discussion.ev...ce/#entry173506 Link to comment
Level 5* Metrodon 2,188 Posted November 29, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted November 29, 2012 I really don't think they can make it any clearer that Evernote's model for organisation is tag based. The current structure of Stack/Notebook/Note is as far as that paradigm is likely to go.As far as I am aware there is no restriction on Notebook size.Edit: Please don't feel that we are all jumping in at you - it looks like BnF, Grumps and I all replied at the same time.
