(Archived) COPYING A WEB PAGE THAT SCROLLS DOWN

Recommended Posts

I simply do not know how to copy a web page or other document that is longer than one screen shot. For example if I am on a web page and wan to copy it to Evernote I use " Copy Full Screen". This only copies what appears on the screen. I would like to copy the entire page that requires scrolling down. Is that possible?

Thanks

What client are you using? My Windows browser clipper gives me the "Add to Evernote" option with selection / URL / page choices, and the last one (I think) copies ALL the page regardless. I also use a Firefox add-in "FireShot" which will copy selections / the visible portion / whole page to a picture or PDF file. If you search the net for possibilities I'm sure you'll find something quickly..

Yes, this is an interesting problem. I can definitely use my clipper in either IE or Chrome to clip an entire page, no matter how long it is. However, sometimes when I'm manually copying a section of the page (using prt scr and Win button) I would love to be able force it to scroll down a little bit so as to capture a bit more. There is no way to do this at this point. I've used other snipping tools (such as the windows tool and others) and have always had this issue.

There are several apps and at least one online service that will copy 'long pages' (ie ones that scroll off the visible desktop) - I've tried several, but since I fixed on Evernote as the 99.9% recipient of the clips I'm down to the two I mentioned earlier. Can't even recall which ones I tried - but search for 'print long page' or 'copy long page' and you should find 1M+ hits...

Not so much luck with the Selection option though - if you only want an area, but it's too big to see on screen, first grab your page, then crop the image. This sometimes plays havoc with the resolution, but it seems to be the only game in town.

CaptureWizPro will solve your problem. Three programs I can not live without are: Evernote, CaptureWizPro, and Roboform. Hope this will be of help.

I checked CaptureWizPro, and it looks good. Before I purchase do you know how it would link to Evernote after a screen is captured? I also like Roboform but for another purpose.

Thanks

With CaptureWizPro running you will see a yellow bar at the top of your screen. Move the cursor to this yellow bar and a menu pops down, click on "Area" move the red x that appears and hold down the left mouse key to capture the area of interest. When you let up on the left mouse key, you are presented another menu, select "Copy"

Now open a new note in Evernote, and hit Ctrl V, bingo there is what you have just copied. You can now add text or whatever to make the note more meaningful to your needs.

I bet I use CaptureWizPro, fifty times a day, I hope someone from CaptureWizPro, sees this and sends me a free upgrade, (ha ha) Being retired, I have more time to play around!!

Best of luck

I know that this thread is a little old, but I thought that I'd add a couple of other options...

FastStone Capture - freeware that will let you do screen captures, including a scrolling window.

Evernote Bookmarklet - go to this page. Hover over the "For other browsers" text and drag the Bookmarklet link to your bookmarks. Now you can just click on this bookmark and it will bring up a little window to clip the entire web page to Evernote.
