Type up notes on iPad, sync from WiFi when you get the chance. If you have a camera connection kit, use that to add pictures to Evernote as you go.

Don't see why this is difficult....

Hi. Welcome to the forums!

I am not sure how detailed you need the instructions to be, but here is how I manage my account (http://www.princeton.edu/~cmayo/evernote-organization.html). Before traveling, I:

(1) create an offline notebook in Evernote (this requires a premium account)

(2) move travel files into the offline notebook, preferably with lots of notelinks tying them all together so that they are really easy to navigate: the daily journal note has a link to the hotel confirmation email I need for that day, etc.

(3) work ONLY on your iPad, because you rarely have Internet access, so syncing is sporadic, and you want to be careful not to sync new note changes using your iPhone, and then accidentally overwrite them

(4) purchase a camera adapter from Apple and upload photos -- I usually have them copied into my Dropbox account and sort through them later for inclusion into Evernote, because I do not necessarily want them all, I definitely don't want to go over my upload allowance, and changes made by rotating photos on the iPad using the native Camera Roll will not necessarily be recognized by Evernote (an issue, not a bug)

(5) always save a copy of crucial information (itineraries, hotel confirmation numbers, passport photos (encrypted, of course) and so forth in another app just in case. I usually use Adobe Reader because it is the only app (that I know of) which can handle 256-bit encryption on PDF files.

(6) purchase an external battery (about the size of your iPhone) for use if you think you will be working for more than 7 or 8 hours away from power. reducing the screen brightness, turning off the wifi and bluetooth when not in use (airplane mode), and turning off automatic screen rotation will conserve battery life. This is especially nice to have for international flights of 13 hours or more.

Does this help? Another suggestion would be to purchase an external keyboard (I am using one to type this at the moment). Apple's keyboard is a dream to use, it is portable, the battery lasts a long time, and it will make typing (or working) a breeze.

Hi Bruce,

Sounds like a great travel journal set-up! I may be stating the obvious, but since you're new to Evernote, I'll risk it. I see that some responses focused on typing your notes. Thanks to EN, you can easily go beyond that to make a very rich journal. Documents (tickets, menus, etc.) are a snap with the new page camera feature. You can record audio notes and local sounds (and add words and pictures as annotations to the audio.) If you enjoy handwriting your notes, or drawing, be sure to check out the Penultimate app, new to Evernote. I have had good luck with the Bamboo stylus from Wacom. Have a great trip!

Okay, this is a side track, but why would you want something that costs twice as much and is bigger in size? I looked at this first because I had heard it referred to by name, but after investigating reviews on Amazon, I got the other one.

It's smaller, only .5 ounces heavier, and has better specs. As for the price, well I'd have to say because it is Apple

I'm just playing around. I have neither, but if I were going to get one, I'd probably go with the Apple device. I like Asus well enough (several devices by them over the years), but I've had better luck with Apple.
