texas321 0
I'm new, hope this has an easy fix. Although web clipper (Chrome) can insert new notes, it won't let me delete or adjust the suggested tags. I attached an image (screenshot) of the problem, but just in case, here are the details: Chrome 20.0.1132.47 m Web Clipper build 9f6656f On the tags row, clicking anywhere does nothing. Also, adjusting Web Clipper options seems to have no effect. Thanks, and best wishes. Link to comment
Blake Burch 60
I'm running the same exact versions as you with no issues. Did you try ending all of the Chrome processes (including right-clicking the chrome icon in the system tray and clicking exit) and then restarting the browser? Link to comment
elziko 8
I have exactly the same issue. Once a tag has been added in the Chrome Web Clipper (whether they are suggested or manually inserted) it is impossible to delete them. For what it is worth, killing all chrome processes does not fix this issue and I have confirmed this on every Windows machine I have. All running Chrome on Windows 7.This is really annoying since it is rare that I want all the tags that the Web Clipper suggests, I need to remove some of them. Link to comment
rel 0
I can confirm that I am having the same problem with the Chrome Web Clipper, in which the suggested tags are frozen.I keep a tab of the Evernote Web open so that after I clip a webpage, I can go and manually remove the frozen suggested tags.Would be great to have this fixed. texas321 0
I went manual by disabling smart filing (in Web Clipper options), which saves unwanted-tag-editing time. Manual mode is probably better for a novice anyway. No problem. This product is the best productivity enhancement that's come along for me in years. Link to comment

tkaraszewski 16
Hey everyone, if this is what I think it is, it will only happen if your tags contain uppercase characters. Is anyone seeing any behavior that's not consistent with this? If that's the problem, then it's already been fixed internally and will go out in the next release. Link to comment

The tags were actually from another computer and were frozen when I installed the web clipper plugin for chrome on this one I'm currently using. When will the updated version of the plugin be available? Will I have to upgrade manually? Thanks! Link to comment

In the meantime, texas321's suggestion for turning off smart filing (or setting it to notebooks only) may be the best option for people who use tags with uppercase characters.Sorry for the inconvenience. Blake Burch 60
EN, why is it like this? You release a new version of the chrome clipper (btw it happens to your other clients as well), which is buggy. It upgrades itself, so I don't even know when, I cannot go back to older working version, so I have to deal with a buggy software.Don't you have a QA department, is somebody testing the software before releasing it, and how intensive and deep is it tested????? As with all software, there are always going to be bugs. Each individual uses a product in a slightly different way - testing all the ways it can be used is nearly impossible. Developers always rely on user feedback to help ensure that future versions will not cause issues. In today's age, most apps and extensions are automatically updated without a trace of the old version. This is, in my opinion, much more convenient than having to continually click a dialog box confirming your desire to update. I prefer to look at "dealing with buggy software" as "learning a new way to do something". After all, if it wasn't for bugs, we'd never learn of workarounds or alternative solutions available. tkaraszewski 16
For people still experiencing this problem, I'm making the following beta version available until we have a new official release out to address this issue:This should be identical to 5.5.1 except for this tag issue.https://dl.dropbox.c...-5.5.2-beta.crxThe above link is obsolete, please see this newer beta instead:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16782130/chrome-clipper-5.6-beta-f15c799.crxDisable or uninstall Clipper 5.5.1 before installing it. When a new official version is available, you will need to uninstall this one and install the new one from the Chrome store again, as beta clippers do not auto-update.Hope this helps, everyone.-Tyler Link to comment

scotteverett 0
I un-installed the current version of web clipper and then installed the version you linked from dropbox. It will not let me do any clippings though, just gives me an error. I'm using the latest version of Chrome. RMM 0
I have the same freezing issue, tried to download the beta and keep getting the message that I can only download these types of files from the google chrome store. What am I missing? thanks. Link to comment
jbignert 473
Hi RMM,Yes with Chrome 21 Google changed the installation process for extensions outside the Chrome Web Store. Here's what you should try:1) Disable your existing version of Web Clipper2) Download the .crx file to your local drive ( right click and 'save link as')3) Open up the 'Manage extensions page' ( right click any extension icon in the toolbar > Manage Extensions )4) Drag the beta version file onto that page to install itHope that works for you. Owyn 457
Installed Clipper 5.6. Confirm that it fixed the problem.Noticed that "Preserve syles for text" is no longer available as an Option. Is the affect of unchecking the "Preserve styles" option the equivalent of that old option?Got a clipping error first time I tried to clip after update. Exit restart of browser fixed error.PS: I assume that the beta install instructions (ie. can't use File -> Open for .crx in Chrome 21+) still apply. Link to comment
jbignert 473
Hi Owyn,Preserve styles for text has been depreciated for a while actually. We've refactored the serializer in 5.6 so style preservation in general should be better & faster across the board. Let me know if you experience otherwise.Yes, installation of betas in Chrome 21 and above still requires you to drag .CRX files on to the 'Manage extensions' view. /Jakob Link to comment
Owyn 457
Thanks. Will retest some old problem clips to see how editable the new clips are. I switched to that option a while ago to:- Remove backgrounds from clips- Reduce complexity and therefore avoid edit problems in web client Link to comment
