edbro 0
Enabling Web Clipper 5.5 prevents Chrome from loading the start page. After starting Chrome you will see a blank page and the "loading" message. That will go forever until you manually load the page from a button or manual url. Disabling the extension allows Chrome to work properly again. This was reported several times in the previous version so I was expecting to work in the last update.http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/25948-chrome-evernote-web-clipper-54-beta/page__view__findpost__p__140569http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/25948-chrome-evernote-web-clipper-54-beta/page__view__findpost__p__144065http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/26408-help-chrome-not-loading-with-clipper/page__view__findpost__p__141481 Link to comment
Wavel 2
This problem isn't new to 5.5 and it's not just the home page. Clicking on a web link inside other applications (like outlook) will open Chrome but not load the page until you put your cursor in the address bar and hit ENTER. Not sure why this problem has gone on for so long and doesn't seem to be addressed by Evernote. Link to comment
jbignert 473
Hi all,Sorry for the inconvenience. We are looking into these issues. So far we've not been able to reproduce them so if you have more details it could help us a lot:- OS version- Browser version- Detailed description of the issue- The URL if the issue happens on specific sites or a note if it happens on all URLs.- Event log from the Web Clipper (go to options & click 'View logs')- Event log from the browser if possible Link to comment
edbro 0
Chrome 19.0.1084.56Windows 7 Pro x64On browser start the start page will not load. All I get is a blank page and the rotating busy icon. If I click on the home page button or manually input the url, the page will load fine. I tried different start pages with the same result.06:57:23 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time) (WARN) /background.html: HTTP Error checking version. jbignert 473
Hi all,We believe we have fixed this problem in this new beta version. If you want to test this build:1) Uninstall your existing Chrome Clipper 2) Download and install the 5.5.1 version from this locationhttp://evernote.s3.amazonaws.com/chrome/chrome-ext-7e79da4.crx3) Restart Chrome and see if the issue is gone. Please let us know if the issue is gone.Note: This is a beta version so once we've released this fix to production you will also need to re-install one more time from the Chrome Web Store to get future auto updates. I will post back here once that happens. Link to comment
Wavel 2
I removed 5.5 and installed 5.5.1. I then restarted Chrome but still have the same problem. This happens on any url that I click on a link inside a different program.I'm on Chrome 20 Link to comment
edbro 0
It fixed it for me. Thank you. Link to comment
jbignert 473
@WavelJust one clarification I'd like to ask. Do you see one of these issue or both:1) When you start up Chrome and have a startpage set to load on startup then Chrome gets stuck in loading forever.2) When you click a link in a different program that launches Chrome / a new tab / a new window then Chrome gets stuck in loading forever. Wavel 2
@jbignertI've been having both of those exact problems. I'm uninstalling the clipper and trying the 5.5.1 version on another machine and will let you know how it goes. Thanks. Link to comment
JSánchez 0
@jbignert I wrote this post (http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/26408-help-chrome-not-loading-with-clipper/#entry146369) in other topic but the beta version of Clipper (5.5.1) fixed the problem for me. Thank you!! Link to comment
Wavel 2
It seems to have fixed it on one machine but not the other. It has gotten better... sometimes the page opens, sometimes it does not. I should mention that I also have Clearly installed in my browser. Link to comment

edbro 0
I'm sorry to say that the beta does not fix it after all. I still have the same problem. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes Chrome will load the start page the first time after enabling the clipper extension then will not load on further startups. I think that is why I reported it fixed earlier.I have made a screen recording that clearly shows the correlation between the clipper and the Chrome problem. See flash file here:https://dl.dropbox.c.../Evernote1.htmlYou will have to scroll down when I'm showing all my extensions Link to comment
Kingfisher 0
Hi, I am also experiencing this issue running Clipper 5.5.1 on Chrome 20 under Windows 7 x64. Disabling the extension is the only way to resolve this non-loading issue. So is there any further update?RegardsDavid Link to comment
tkaraszewski 16
This issue is caused by a bug in Chrome. It sometimes gets hung up loading extension content scripts if the extension specifies more than one group of content scripts to use. This is supposed to be supported behavior and does work for most people most of the time, but the bug affects certain users. We've seen that reducing the number of content scripts required helps for some people, and that's what we did in 5.5.1. Still, some users continue to see the issue. The clipper has been changed to use a single group of content scripts to try and get around this bug, and that change will be in the next release. Link to comment
JoeH 0
Any idea when the next release will be? I'm one of the users who 5.5.1 did not seem to fix. Link to comment

Kingfisher 0
Whilst I have experienced a great improvement with the installation of 5.6 (using Chrome 20), unfortunately the issue is not totally resolved. Approximately one in four openings of Chrome will result in a "hanging" at the homepage. Whereas previously, it would hang 100% of the time when opening of Chrome. Link to comment
