psionmark 73
Hi gang,Any recommendations on the best to way to get a lot (I'm talking thousands) of photos into EN? (Everything else is going into EN, so I figure the photos may as well go in too).My plan was to have a stack. Top level called Photos. Individual notebooks inside the stack for each "event".The problem I'm hitting is that if I add multiple photos to one Note, I quickly hit the 50Mb limit. So, one photo per note, but dragging and dropping puts multiple photos into a single note (where I hit the limit). Is there a way to drag and drop and for each photo to create one note? I don't fancy individually dragging thousands of photos into individual notes. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,043 Posted June 14, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted June 14, 2012 you could drag and drop your photos to an Import Folder and then they'll generate individual notes.. But beware your upload limit! Link to comment

Level 5* gazumped 12,043 Posted June 14, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted June 14, 2012 OK just to round this one out - you could set your import folder to use a local notebook initially so the pictures aren't synced, but you've at least got all your processing done in a finite time. You can then just drag enough notes over to a synced notebook at the end of each upload period to complete your quota with a reliable estimate of the total size you're uploading. Link to comment
James M. 15
I see the attraction, but I think you would be better served by using some web service specializing in storing your photos such as Flickr, Picassa, and many others. In addition to keeping them out of your EN database they dedicated services will add other features specifically for photos. Link to comment

I'm maybe getting carried away with my goal of "Evernote for everything" Link to comment

Level 5* gazumped 12,043 Posted June 15, 2012 Level 5* Share Posted June 15, 2012 I'm maybe getting carried away with my goal of "Evernote for everything"<grin> can't fault your ambition, but JB and James M are right about pictures sizes and extra features - my photos reside in Pic*****a and the best ones are 10MP and 2-3MB in size (which is fairly modest). Doesn't take too many of those to make a serious dent in your upload score - and I tend to take lots of pictures now I don;t have to pay for film and print processing. Pic*****a does things like face recognition and applies a range of effects to the pictures - as do most of the other app options. I do put pictures in EN, but they tend to be of specific things that have extra details attached, like pics of the back side of my TV so I remember where all the connectors are...EN does suffer somewhat from being useful at a great deal of stuff, while specialising in being nothing but external grey matter.EDIT Oh come on! James M quoted his picture software as p.i.c.a.s.s.a. (without the periods) but I get starred? What'd I do??? Link to comment
spg SCOTT 736
I guess it depends on your use choice. I for one don't take many photos, so storing the images that I do have (mainly screenshots than anything else) is done with EN. If I dealt with larger amounts of images, I guess I would go with something more suited to the job. gazumped, the forum wont retrospectively change posts, but will on new posts, hence why you are seeing the stars. It is something that I have noticed too, and have sent gbarry a pm about it today, so it is something that will be on his radar. (it seems a little too quick to change things, even inside other words.) Link to comment

Seems like someone must have really put the s.c.r.e.w.s. to the bad word filter & it's now on crack. Link to comment
