(Archived) HELP: Evernote freezing (spinning wheel) on open

MGnote

Idea

I have been using Evernote on my Mac for 1yr with no problems. Today it kept syncing continuously for 4+hrs after minimal changes so I forced quit the application. Now when I open the application I just get the colorful spinning wheel of death. Seems like it sync may still be running in background, is there a service or something I can check to make sure Evernote is not running at all before I try to open the app. Any other suggestions?

Hi. Welcome to the forums!

iStat Pro is a nice app (widget?) that will keep you updated on what is happening in your account. Evernote shouldn't be hogging too many resources, but if it is syncing (check the activity area), then it might be best to let it finish. It shouldn't take too long, unless you have upgraded to the beta and have lots and lots of shared notebooks (me). In that case, the beach ball appears because Evernote is downloading everything at once.

You can always go into your preferences and change the sync to manual if things get too serious. And, if the problem lasts longer than four hours then call a doctor. Hahaha - a joke in bad taste. If it lasts a while, you'll want to contact customer support via the link in my signature.

Thanks, iStat Pro is good but there were no other services running for Evernote. EN is still hanging/spinning when I open it up. I tried opening a ticket but it did not let me type in my problem, only my email and user id. Am I missing something?
