(Archived) HELP: Only one note showing in list [RESOLVED]

justjoyriding

Idea

On my Mac, only one of my 50 notes is showing. It says there are 50, they all show on my iPhone but not on my Powerbook Pro. It just started this morning. There is nothing in the search box. I've tried restarting the app, syncing, restarting the computer, checking for updates in the App Store, nothing has worked so far.

The one note that shows isn't even the last note I updated.

If a category shows a qty, it says "This notebook is empty."

hi. welcome to the forums!

could you give us a bit more information? osx version, evernote version, and screenshot?

we lost the search explanation bar for lions, so if you are running that version, it may be that your view is being filtered, and all you have to do is click on "all notes". if you are running something before lion, then it is another issue.

hi. thanks. it looks like you are running lion, but there doesn't appear to be any search filtering the results, so what you see is what you get. the three conflicts drew my eye. if you get those sorted out and delete the notebooks (make sure to move the notes out and into your main account before doing this), what happens?

you have 48 notes showing in your existing notes, and only 2 that you can see (for a total of 50), so i am wondering where those 2 new notes are located. that is kind of odd.

so, after you clear up those conflicts, could you login to evernote web and check how many notes you can see there?

No notes showed up in the conflicts (same message - 'This notebook is empty') so I deleted those and nothing happened further than the delete. I went to the web login and edited another note and went back to sync and 3 show up now. The list still says 48. I suppose I'm going to have to update online when I need to and let them show up one by one.

Thanks for the help anyway.

so, you only have two notes online as well?

ok. this is good news. the online (evenote on the web) version is what the evernote servers have stored. the iphone (assuming you don't have premium service with offline notes) holds nothing. it just pulls it down from the evernote servers. your mac app is different.

the mac app stores a copy of your notes on your hard drive and also syncs with the servers. something has apparently gone wrong. you have a few options:

(1) create a support ticket (see my sig) and wait for evernote support to get back to you. follow their directions. see what happens. it might take a few days, because it is a holiday weekend. but, this is probably "safest."

(2) you can uninstall and re-install evernote. your case is a little tricky, though, because something appears to be wrong with your database. so, create a new user profile on your mac (not for evernote). log out of your current user (on the mac). log into the new one (on the mac). download evernote. log into your evernote account. all of the notes should sync perfectly. the reason you want to do this is so that you can have a copy of your database safe and secure somewhere on your hard drive. assuming this works fine, backup with time machine just in case :) now, log out of that user (on your mac), log into your regular user (on the mac), uninstall evernote, and re-download it. hopefully, this will clear everything up!

(3) upgrade to the beta version and see what happens. a little risky, unless you have followed the steps in #2 to make sure all of your data is safe and secure.

(4) try to get your notes into your app using a workaround. create a new evernote account. share your notebook from your current account (on the web) with the new one. open the new one, copy all of the notes from the shared notebook (your old account stuff) into your new account. now you have two copies of your notes. you can now share this notebook with your old account. copy the notes over, and you'll have them all. the problem is that something seems fishy with your evernote app on the mac, so i would be more in favor of #2 and #3.
