(Archived) Feature Request

Recommended Posts

After using Evernote as a replacement for my aging Palm Desktop software (Mac) I have a few feature request that were included with that software:

  1. Quick navigation: I have long lists of items in a number of notebook stacks (notes for each customer for example) ranging from A - Z. I can do a search for them but it would be nice to just type the first letter of the item I am looking for in that stack (type A would take me to Abbott, E would take me to Eastern Tool Steel) etc.
  2. The ability to insert the date WITHIN a note. I have notes for each customer for meetings with them. I don't want to keep a separate note for each meeting. I would like to keep 1 note per customer but be able to timestamp it WITHIN the note.
  3. Pie-in-the-sky-but-I-will-ask: Integrating iCal and Address Book into Evernotes. Although I'm not a big fan of either Apple product, they do integrate well with iPhone and iPad. It would be great to use 1 piece of software (Evernote) as a complete PIM (personal information manager). Palm Desktop software did this extremely well. A contact manager (like Address Book), a calendar (like iCal) and a Notes section (like Evernotes). The biggest problem with Palm Desktop (besides the fact it has not been updated in years and won't run on OSX 10.7) is that it could not synch with Address Book and iCal. Seriously, Palm Desktop was a great PIM. Perhaps iCal and Address Book could be integrated into Evernote via modules?

You should post these requests in the forum(s) for whatever client(s) you use, preferably in separate posts with topical titles to keep the conversations focused and so people know what the topics are about.

EDIT: Sorry, that sounded harsh. First, welcome to the forum. Second, my response was meant to help you get good feedback. Your post here will probably not start a good conversation, since it won't reach its target audience and the topic title doesn't give any suggestion as to what it's about. But if you follow the above advice, you should get some good feedback. For example, #2 is already available in the Windows client (but not the Mac client), which is why posting in the relevant forum is so important.

I use TextExpander on my Mac for inserting dates within my Evernote notes. It costs but I've found it amazingly useful for other things as well. I participate in a tech support forum and, the same questions get asked a lot. TextExpander makes it easy to post the solution to common questions.
