(Archived) REQUEST and HELP: [Various]

BermudaAl

Idea

1) I hate the new note header. Is there anyway to go back to the old one? Maybe a preference?

2) Also hate the new "feature" that automatically adds a checkbox when you hit return on a line with a checkbox. You're changing the functionality of an existing product and this change disrupts the workflow we use. Can this be a preference?

Why mess with something that works?

Also, having problems with Fullscreen in Lion. When I double click a note, it moves me back to the finder page of mission control - I can't stay in the evernote "Space." If I go back to the evernote "space" it automatically takes me back to the finder "space". This renders fullscreen in lion unusable for me. This only happens on my office Mac (two monitors). MacBook Air work fine. Used to work fine. What's up?

1. Not currently

2. Not currently - the joy of developing Evernote, this has been asked for many times.

If Evernote sits still it will get overtaken eventually....

Try opening a note and when it moves you to your Finder space, open MC and move the note back to your Evernote space.

I can't use the latest Evernote in Mission Control (10.7.3) with my desktop Mac which has two monitors. When I double click a note, the note opens in the evernote space but I immediately get kicked back to the Finder space. If I move over to the evernote space, I immediately get kicked back to the finder space. Only solution is to quit evernote. It works fine on all of my other macs (Portables) which have one screen. A real bummer as I use Evernote in MC all the time.

My guess is that it has something to do with the dual monitor setup. Did you test it on this? Any ideas? It worked fine until your latest release.

I just tested this and it behaves as it should...

Did you try this?

Try opening a note and when it moves you to your Finder space, open MC and move the note back to your Evernote space.

If that doesn't work I'd guess that something has gone bad in your install and you should probably reinstall.

1. Sorry you don't like the new header. May I ask why? We dont have a way to use the old one.

2. Don't have an option or preference for this.

3. This sounds like a bug. I have dual monitors, and don't see this behavior. Do you have any plugins installed? If you go through support, please send them your activity logs.

dlu,

1) Don't like the new header because it clutters the top of each note without clearly separating itself from the note. The prior version was far more obvious. My notes are cluttered enough ;) Now, I find myself having to repeatedly look at each note to get to the note part. It would be better if it had background shading. I use evernote extensively and I find the new header slows me down. Subtle is not good - the thin little line is too subtle. I want to know where the header ends and my notes start in a nanosecond.

2) Please add a preference. I use checkbox lists all the time, but have bullet points under each one. This new "feature" is a productivity killer for me. I can see where it would help others and a preference lets everyone have their choice. I hate it when the computer automatically types in something I didn't type and don't want. IMHO, you've degraded the product.

3) I don't have any plug-ins that I am aware of. I have started a support ticket. The behavior I described happens every time, even after a reinstall. It's a bummer - no MC for Evernote. Everything else on my system works. I'm not a developer - what activity logs are you referring to? Thanks.

I have the same problem (on Macbook Air 2010, single display).

dlu,

I opened a ticket (Ticket # 16051-65266) and got the following reply:

"We apologize for the inconvenience, however it appears there is currently a bug causing this.

We appreciate you taking the time to send us this error. We have filed an internal bug report with the QA team lead. She will classify and fix the bugs in the order determined by the project Lead. Unfortunately this is not something I can fix for you at this time."

This seems inconsistent with your statement that you cannot reproduce it yet. Is the tech support reply just a form letter? It seems a weird thing to say if you cannot reproduce the bug which I can reproduce 100% of the time.

Would like to see this fixed.

So having a bug filed and having that bug be reproducible are two separate issues. Having the bug filed means we know it is an issue, the next step is fixing. I also should have been more clear that I haven't been able to reproduce, but the QA team will spend some more time on it. They also have more resources to test on.

Finally found out how to solve this. Here's the solution:

The problem is a hidden setting left over from my old Snow Leopard use of Spaces. Evernote (or whichever app you use) is set to open new windows in Desktop One. To fix the problem ALT right click the icon in the dock and select Options > Assign To > None. When you restart the application the problem is fixed.
