(Archived) HOWTO: Display only notes with a .xlsx attachment

I'm considering going back to accessing my commonly used spreadsheets from with dropbox. 1) I don't like the fact that every time I update an attachment in EN that it is counted against my usage limits 2) seeing how it is not searchable or viewable in EN, I see no advantage to having it in EN

So my question is, is there a shortcut advance search to display only the notes with a .xlsx attachment?

I enquired about this very thing several months ago, but it was in the old forums, so I think it got lost.

Here's a link to that thread:

If I understand your question, I want to have the spreadsheets accesible anywhere. I do like EN's ability to included an attached spreadsheet in note.

I think I know the answer, but is there a way to make a shortcut in a note to a spreadsheet kept outside of EN?

Thanks

If by shortcut you mean hyperlink, then you can. Bear in mind that the new target location must support linking to its contents (as far as I know Dropbox only supports public links). It's not Evernote's fault if this doesn't pan out. You can put all sorts of links into Evernote.

Nah, I'm quiet happy with EN. Just certain times when I think EN does not offer an advantage. I think it is great for notes/pdfs, but spreadsheets and word documents, I think I'll stick with DB for now.

You can certainly do this in the Windows client, but I don't know if this is possible in the Mac client.
