timlem 0
Will Evernote search inside word files, pages files, excel numbers etc? For example if a word document attached to a note has the words I ate a fish and you search evernote for it, will it point to the note containing that word document? Link to comment
Level 5 jbenson2 2,149 Posted January 27, 2012 Level 5 Share Posted January 27, 2012 PDFAlso JPG, PNG, GIFSearch does not work in other document types. From Evernote Dave Engberg a couple years ago. (Sep 23, 2009)"We don't have code in each of our clients to extract searchable text from other file formats. This is something that we would be interested to do in the future, but it's a pretty big project, even if limited to just MS Office, since there are at least a dozen different file formats involved in "Office" over the years, and each would require special code to separate "text" from "other stuff" in the document." srj55 0
it's fundamentally an architectural flaw in EN. The search indexes should be built and updated server-side. This way, each client doesn't need extraction code.If this were the case, it would be much easier to build this functionality. DRY - Don't. repeat. yourself. Link to comment
