(Archived) REQUEST: Automatic filling and tagging

Rich Edwards

Idea

I'd like to have a feature like gmail filters where I can automatically tag and move to folders notes that have specific characteristics (search criteria). The use case I'm thinking of are receipts that I fwd for archive/tax purposes. With automated forwarding I can't modify the subject line of the incoming notes to do this before it hits my default notebook. Looking to do this natively and less clunky that with an apple script or automator. This may overlap in function with the other user request out there for a folder watch capability.

Please check out my post on a possible solution that may work for you.

Steve,

That's a pretty slick solution. Thanks for the pointer, I'll definitely check it out (although note to dev team -> I'd still like to have the feature native in Evernote).

UPDATE: Just like Steve post his work around did the job. Pretty slick (I was also able to clone his workflow from Tarpipe's public workflow so it was a 5 minute job. Very cool, it works, but still have the issue of routing info through a 3rd party service.

Thanks dlu for the acknowledgement.

So I'll throw in one more piece of info in here to support the epic.

There's of course the functionality you can get from iftt:

http://blog.evernote...rvices-you-use/

....although this is the integration this external service as opposed to workflow internal to Evernote

Also I'd point to Dropbox Automator:

http://techcrunch.co...tt-for-dropbox/

which sounds more like the capability I described above.

On the original use case I'd say tarpipe is working well after a few weeks of use. Using it however uncovered that when I scan in receipts, for example, I have to manually go through the workflow fo tagging and filling, so the original problem is still there for a different set of inputs.
