I have three tags that I use fairly often but they were well down the alphabet so I edited their names by prepending an asterisk, thus xxx became *xxx.
Oddly, in the tag sidebar they jumped to the top of the list, above a long series of tags whose names start with a dot. But on the tags selection drop down on the favorites bar, they sort immediately AFTER the tags whose names start with a period.
