(Archived) "The content is not valid"

This morning I made some minor edits in a note I've had for months and it won't sync. The message I get is,

"The content is not valid." I have changed absolutely nothing in the note that's been syncing multiple times a day all year. How can I fix it while still saving the contents of the note?

first thing I'd do is export the note to make sure I have a safe copy of it. Then I'd open a support case.
