coastside 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I want to assign a due date to a to-do item. Is there a way to do that?
crane 40 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 No. There is no date support in EN for this kind of thing.
salgud 12 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I want to assign a due date to a to-do item. Is there a way to do that? This probably isn't very satisfying, being rather lo-tech, but I would type in the due date next to the checkbox. I know, not very techy.
dude_uber 0 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 this would be perfect product with optional due date. is useless to me without it. so close...
TheMatador 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 A due date would be a great feature. It would help you to remind you on special notes and for managing tasks it's a must have.
iafanasyev 1 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 You can use a 'subject date' attribute -- this is a custom date that you can use for any purposes, and then sort notes by it in note list. To change subject date, select a note and choose 'Change dates...' command from the context menu.
melchioe 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 That's all well and good for the Windows people. Mac people do not appear to have access to the subject date, either in note attributes or sort options.-e-
betonmoewe 0 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 That's all well and good for the Windows people. Mac people do not appear to have access to the subject date, either in note attributes or sort options.-e- yes, this option does not exist in the mac client and web interface Furthermore, I can only create searches for the past (last week, last day and so on) but not for the future (like next week) with this, wich was my sorrowful experience (viewtopic.php?f=30&t=6777&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a) To put the due date direkt into the note disable all relative searches ! Thus: here my vote for a due date with the possibility of relative searching in both time directions !!!
motorwayne 0 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Has to do checkbox due date been added for Mac yet? or if not, will it be added?
Level 5 jbenson2 2,149 Posted December 2, 2010 Level 5 Posted December 2, 2010 A Due Date is in the works according to EvernoteIn the meantime:There are cases where I want an accurate Create Date and an accurate Due Date. For instance, when I call the Dentist to schedule an appointment. The title will have the task (Tooth Cleaning)The Create Date will act as the Due Date for my future appointmentAnd in the body of the note, I add the initial phone call to make the appointment along with the time stamp Ctrl + ; Any changes are added to the body with the time stamp. So I end up with a workable Due Date, and action-item history info with date. Here is what the title and note look like:2010 12 14 USA MN Maple Grove Brook West Family Dentisty JLB cleaningI called to make appointment. Confirmed with Sue for Nov 18 at 10am - 08/23/2010 3:45 PMI called back and moved out the appointment - Confirmed with Nancy for Dec 14 at 10am - 08/25/2010 10:15 AMThis system has worked very nicely for me over the past year.
Level 5* jefito 5,598 Posted December 2, 2010 Level 5* Posted December 2, 2010 Has to do checkbox due date been added for Mac yet? or if not, will it be added?Although due dates are on the radar for Evernote, and I don't know for sure what form they'll take, my impression is that there will be one Due Date per note, just as there's one Created date and one Updated date. As there can be more than one checkbox per note, I don't think that the checkboxes will be tied explicitly to the Due date. Mind you that this is all speculative on my part.~Jeff
Level 5* CalS 5,311 Posted December 2, 2010 Level 5* Posted December 2, 2010 To manage To-Do items I have created a Parent tag of Weeks and child tags for the Monday of any week I want a task or follow up to be done, for example 2010.11.29. When I create a To-Do box I assign the week tag. For a follow up I use an @Follow Up tag and a week tag. When I open the Weeks parent tag I see the number of open items by week. Click on the week I get the specific notes that require attention. When the task is complete I click the to-to box and remove the week tag. When the week tag goes to 0, I delete it. That way only open items show up by week under Weeks. Sounds harder than it is, but at the end of it all I have a quick reference of what needs to be done when and I can easily set future follow ups. Could have a tag by day I suppose, but I figure if I get it done in the week, life is good.
Level 5* jefito 5,598 Posted December 2, 2010 Level 5* Posted December 2, 2010 Yeah, right now it's all a bit of a do-it-yourself affair; with the addition of Due dates and the ability of the search grammar to deal with dates in the future, it'll probably still be DIY, but hopefully a little easier to manage.~Jeff

motorwayne 0 Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Gingo's does sounds like a lot.I'm a typical user i guess:Been using "Things" at the project software and EN as the storage software, and would like to have the best of both worlds.Like the graphical nature of file storage in EN, an iPhone compatible app to match for on the go tasks, and ultimately a desktop interface to match. Can anyone post a few screenshots of their setup to help?CheersWayne
