(Archived) Problem upgrading to latest version

jjj

Idea

I'm trying to upgrade from version 2.0.5 build 130393 to build number 142777, which I've downloaded from the website. But when I try to copy the Evernote.app to Applications directory, it refuses saying "The operation can't be completed because the item "Evernote.app" is in use". I have verified that I don't have the main app or the helper app running. I have tried rebooting my laptop (running Mac OSX 10.6.7). Has anyone else hit this problem and found a solution?

Seems you need to make sure you have the default Python v2.6 (from Apple).

I had upgraded to Python v2.7 for my own development purposes.

From what I am guessing, it was ***** up with Evernote "conversion processing" Python scripts.

Try to revert back to previous version of Python (python26-apple) for OSX 10.6 (snow leopard) in my case.

Thank you for the report

We believe that reinstalling the latest Mac version may address the issue that you reported. Please try:

Quit Evernote from the elephant icon in the Menu Bar

Drag the Evernote application to the system Trash

Reboot your Mac

Download and install the latest version of the Mac client:

http://www.evernote.com/about/download/ ... vernoteMac

When you open our .dmg, make sure to drag the Evernote icon into the Applications folder instead of running it from within the installer package.

Eject the disk image and delete the installer file before you run Evernote.

Let us know how this works for you.

Interesting idea, but I don't think that's relevant in my case. Here's my python version information:

Python 2.6.1 (r261:67515, Jun 24 2010, 21:47:49)
[GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5646)] on darwin

I will wait to get confirmation that uninstalling copmletely won't remove all my settings and notes before trying that option.
