(Archived) Can I delete thumbnail.png security from my data folder?

goto2011

Idea

My Evernote data folder is more than 15G. It is too big to backup via time machine. I notice that each note folder has a thumbnail.png file. It is very big.

Can I delete it security?

My en is 1.4.9(57356) , don`t said update to latest version (because lead to more trouble thing: crash).

My os is mac 10.6.6.

Thank you.

Ok, that explains it. We're generating relatively large thumbnail images for your notes so that they will look clean and readable if you zoom into the thumbnails in the "thumbnail view" using the slider. So with 55,000 notes, that works out to around 285kB per thumbnail image.

Deleting them would free up the space temporarily, but then the client will need to regenerate them.

I rarely, if ever, view my notes on any of the EN platforms I have (Mac, Win, iPhone, iPad) in the large thumbnail only view. I'm sure it's useful if you have a lot of images in your Notes.

But for those of use that have few images, or don't need to see the image in a thumbnail, creating both the large and small thumbnails is a waste of storage space.

Would it be possible to add a user preference for "No Thumbnails" by default?

A slightly more complex change would be to have the "Generate Thumbnails" option set on each Note.

Thanks for your consideration of this suggestion.
