chrome (Archived) Web clipper and multitasking?

Recommended Posts

When using the web clipper extension on Chrome, I've noticed that if I do anything else on my computer after I click "save" in the clipper, the box goes away and it effectively cancels the clip. Is this by design? Sometimes it takes a few seconds to clip a page, and it's a bit annoying not to be able to switch to another application while it completes in the background.

Is there a way around this?

I assume that you're on Chrome. If you click away from our pop-up window, that effectively dismisses our application without giving us any way to "clean up", so you need to press the Save button to save the clip.

Engberg I have that same problem too. I'm using Evernote Clipper for Chrome on a Mac.

My experience is (I'm sure it is the same for edhoover), even after I click the "save" button, the bubble will spin for some time, and if I do anything like clicking outside the bubble, or switching apps, the whole saving process will be aborted and I have to start over. I don't see how it is practical for me to wait for 15s just to save every article I want to clip.

I have since moved to the firefox extension instead, but I wonder why these extensions and clippers can't just work the same way universally. Do you know if this is something I can fix on my end? Or if this is something Evernote crew is working to fix?

As I understand it, it's a Chrome browser thing that extensions are dismissed when they lose focus; the other extensions that I use in Chrome do the same thing -- maybe that will change someday. Browser extensions / plug-ins / what-have-yous work differently because there are no standards for them. Under Chrome, at least for now, you'll just have to wait...
