(Archived) how to copy geolocation from googlemaps to EN?

Recommended Posts

hi all,

i'm stuck here because i don't have any clue about latitude, longitudes and all the rest :-)

i have this link

http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&hl=de&geocode=&q=villa+schaaffhausen&sll=51.124213,10.546875&sspn=9.616741,20.43457&ie=UTF8&z=6&iwloc=A&om=1&cid=50652694,7224585,9695517640650033632&ll=52.656394,8.305664&source=embed

and i can't extract the longitude/latitude from it and paste it into the EN window "click to set location...".

i tried to copy "51.124213,10.546875" or "9.616741,20.43457" or all those other numbers, mixed them up, modified them, but still get no result in which i had the correct data shown in evernote. (EN always shows names which are wrong)

can please anybody help me and tell me, what i need to do to have the location in the link appear in a note?

I use this site: http://www.getlatlon.com/

to get my lat lon info

Hope it helps

yes, it did! thanks.

i just pasted the address into the textfield and the resulting coordinates could copied&pasted into EN.

btw:

comparing the "numbers" from the google-maps link

sll=51.124213,10.546875

sspn=9.616741,20.43457

ll=52.656394,8.305664

with the the ones from getlatlon

50.65279, 7.22469

i'm curious, why they don't match?

anybode an idea?

If you paste your information with no quotes and add a comma, it will show you a location in Germany.

But it is probably not the location you want. I have a I have a similar problem. If I take the correct coordinates from Google Maps and paste them into Evernote, I end up approximately 6 miles from the correct location. In Evernote the numbers are gone and replaced with a word description of the area.

It works fine with my Blackberry mobile device, just not desk top computers. Other people have reported the same problem on this forum. With the huge growth of mobile devices, eventually, this will have to get sorted out. As we say in America, this feature is not ready for Prime-Time.

You could try using a Google Lab feature, "Drop LatLng Marker" ("LatLng-Markierung" im Deutsch). Click on the green potion bottle in Google Maps and activate the feature. A right-click on the map will drop a marker with latitude and longitude that is able to be copied and pasted directly into Evernote. Evernote then assigns a name, based on the closest address, but the actual coordinates are retained (click 'edit location' from the drop-down in Evernote to check).
