Make checkbox "hitbox" larger

jively

Idea

I love Evernote and use notes with lots of checkboxes for my weekly shopping list. However, there is a huge annoyance on iOS.

If I have an item checked, and I found it in the supermarket and am ready to turn it off, if my fat finger is not exactly on the tiny checkbox hitbox, Evernote thinks I want to change the text and brings up the typewriter. This is really annoying, and I have to do several swipe motions to try to uncheck it again and remove the typewriter so I can see the rest of my shopping list. See image.

Could you please assume, when someone touches very close to a checkbox that the user wants to toggle the checkbox, and not start typing?

Related annoyance here (Make checkboxes easier to create, and stop turning them into something with strikethrough text.

Personally I doubt this would be useful: Increasing the size of a text element will lead to even larger distances between lines of text. And we already have a discussion that it's too large.

Actually I rarely miss a box if I want to hit that box.

The phone screen works with enough sensitivity to allow precise input even if the input "device" is larger than the area targeted.

A character of text is even smaller than a checkbox, but you can still place a cursor right in the middle between two of them.
