Orphaned shared files and notebooks

I work as a university lecturer, and my students share notebooks with me when undertaking projects. I have far too many shared notebooks that I cannot leave

Today I saw a notification that I can "leave a shared notebook" - NO I CAN'T!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't work for old shared notebooks

Students typically sign up for their Evernote for a short period and then don't use it again after they graduate.

I have shared notebooks going back to 2011 (yes, really) that I still can't delete.

Will someone please implement this properly so that can remove all this unwanted information cluttering my Evernote (I have 8500+ notes and a lot of them are shared orphans)

It's a bug and should be fixed in a forthcoming update.
