Problem with Latest Evernote Release – Spreadsheet Updates No Longer Reflecting in Notes

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with the latest Evernote update that's caused me to waste a bunch of time. I regularly use a PDF tracking spreadsheet that I open directly from a note, make changes, and save – Evernote would always update the note to reflect those changes. Until today.

Now, when I update the spreadsheet, something odd is happening. The note no longer updates as it should, and the thumbnail preview isn't refreshing, which has always worked flawlessly until now.

So, cheers to whoever’s behind the scenes messing this up! You've really done a number on it. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Sympathies - RENT has arrived (apparently) and may have changed some things...  https://evernote.com/blog/rent-metadata-sync

Work around has to be:  save the changes back to your desktop,  and add them to your note (or replace the originals) manually.  Also contact Support and reply to all the standard responses until you get to a person.  It'll take a few days,  but they are still there somewhere...

Thanks for the info, Gazumped. I've kind of already figured out the manual workaround prior to your post, though it’s still confusing and completely counterproductive. But for now, it’s the only way to reflect changes in the notes, so I don’t have much choice.

I’ll read up on this RENT thing, but honestly, it shouldn’t have affected the software to the point where users are forced to do manual workarounds, throwing files around, saving changes, re-importing, etc.

Anyway, I’ll follow your advice and reach out to support. Hopefully, they’ll sort this out soon.

Peace.

The version I installed today through a prompted update is what has caused the above problem:
10.104.3-win-ddl-public (20240904115036) Editor: v179.0.0 Service: v2.8.2 © 2019 - 2024 Evernote Corporation. All rights reserved

The prior version, installed yesterday, was fine:
Evernote Update: 10.104.2-win-ddl-public (20240902145453) Editor: v179.0.0 Service: v2.8.2 © 2019 - 2024 Evernote Corporation. All rights reserved

This might be related to an issue I recently had where PDF modifications were not written back to V10.

Can't test right now whether this has been resolved.

This is exactly what is occurring. Changes are not reflected within EN.

I've just tested again, still no joy

Are you operating from behind a corporate firewall or AV?  RENT should make things work faster,  but it obviously has changed the way syncing works,  and maybe there's a local factor,  or other traffic,  blocking the connection.

For me this already happened with V10 10.101.7-mac, can‘t test right now whether this is solved.

should both open tickets

I won‘t open tickets anymore, they are free (and I would recommend it) to at least scan the headlines in this forum to get an idea what‘s not working.

@KoZz @Feitz you should both open tickets for this so it gets on their radar. Maybe explain when it last worked and when it broke so they have an easier time tracking down what changed.

Ticket was raised last Thursday - still waiting on a response...

You may not get a response. If it's a bug they may just log it.

I'm just using feedback@ now - three reports in the last week.  Most effective way (IMHO) of handling the issues are 1: check I didn't do something dumb.  2: find a work-around 3: send feedback and note the ticket number 4: get on with life...

For now for #2. I use an app that actually works and skip #3.

If they don't test why should I do it for them as a paying customer?

Evernote Update: 10.105.4-win-ddl-public (20240910164757)
Editor: v179.0.0
Service: v2.9.2

The latest update has been released, addressing the issue where attachment updates were not properly reflected in notes.

The problem has been resolved, and after testing, I can confirm that everything is functioning as expected.

Excellent news!
