Can't Delete Notes From Trash

I have 5 notes in my Trash that were deleted a couple of months ago.  I have emptied them from the trash many times only for them to reappear the next time I open Evernote.  Does anyone know how to get rid of these for good?  Also, they only show up on the desktop app; I do not see them when opening Evernote via the web or mobile app.

Logging out and logging back in solved the problem.

In some cases, it is necessary to delete the cache (the desktop version displays the option when logging out).
